About Melinda Clarke

Melinda is currently starring as the materialistic and conniving Julie Cooper in the hit Fox series, "The O.C.", created and produced by Josh Schwartz and "Charlie's Angels" director McG.

She has spent a career playing out of the norm characters. As she puts it, "I just don't look like the girl next door." One of her favorite recurring roles is the immensely popular Lady Heather, the mysterious and intelligent Dominatrix on "CSI-Crime Scene Investigation". Melinda has gained cult status around the world for such roles as Jessica Priest in "Spawn" and Velasca on "Zena: Warrior Princess", both of which earned her trading cards and action figures.

Melinda was raised in Dana Point, California. Born to Emmy Award winning Actor John Clarke and ballet dancer Patricia Lewis, performing has always been in her blood. Melinda has been working steadily ever since landing her first role at the age of eighteen, as a series regular on the daytime soap "Days of Our Lives". Her feature credits include "Mulholland Falls", "Spawn", "Young Goodman Brown", "Cold Sweat", "Murder.com", "Critic's Choice", "Return of the Living Dead", "Hot Under the Collar", and "The Killer Tongue", for which she won the Best Actress Award at the 1996 Stiges Film Festival in Spain.

Melinda has also starred on the small screen in Jerry Bruckheimer's series "Special Ops Force" and in Aaron Spelling's "Heaven Help Us". Her guest-starring credits include "Seinfeld", "Nash Bridges", "First Monday", "Xena", "Sliders", "Likely Suspects", "The George Carlin Show", "Strangeluck", and many more.

Melinda also has an extensive musical theatre background. "It's the ultimate test," she says. "Not only is your acting being showcased, but your vocal and dance abilities as well." Melinda has starred onstage in "The Music Man", "Oklahoma", "West Side Story", "The Sound of Music", "Hello Dolly", and "The Fantastiks". Her dramatic stage credits include the critically-acclaimed "Vicious" as the junky girlfriend Nancy Spungen, "The Elephant Man", "Lie of the Mind", "Dark of the Moon" and many more.

Melinda loves spending her free time with family and friends, what little of it there seems to be these days. She maintains a household with her husband, Actor/Screenwriter Ernie Mirich, her adorable daughter, Catherine Grace, two British shorthair cats, Bella Blue and Bart, and the most recent addition to the family, a Pug puppy named Molly May.

Melinda enjoys going to amusement parks, Salsa dancing, tap and ballet classes, and good food, whether eating out at one of her favorite restaurants, or cooking at home. Melinda loves to act, "but by far my favorite job is being a mother to my beautiful daughter Catherine Grace."
